Workshop: What if health systems were designed to keep people healthy—rather than just treat illness?

Virtual

12 August 2025

Imagine if health systems were designed to maintain people’s health, rather than simply treat illness.
Rypple hosted an engaging session as part of the Change Hub Digest, exploring how to restructure health systems around “Health-ing”—a proactive, preventative approach to wellbeing.
This interactive session challenged the current healthcare paradigm and offered practical strategies for shifting investment, governance, and leadership toward prevention. Participants gained tools to identify regenerative approaches that address the commercial and systemic determinants of health, leaving with actionable insights to drive change in their own contexts.

Key discussion areas included:
• A systems perspective on what it means to “do” health—not just deliver care
• Exploration of six conditions for systems change, supported by real-world examples
• Opportunities for peer reflection and mentoring around prevention challenges
• Tools for aligning policy, funding, and leadership with a health-creation mindset

Who attended:
A diverse group of policymakers, health practitioners, and changemakers came together to explore new ways of thinking, acting, and leading in support of long-term wellbeing and equity.
For those ready to move beyond reactive systems, the session offered a pathway toward a future where health is actively created and sustained—not restored at a cost.
